Biography:
Margaret (Mag) P. Evans (1842-1868) was one of five daughters born to James Evans and Sarah Ripley. The family lived in Greene County.
Description:
Mag’s elaborate flower basket is a good example of the decorative arts practiced in female academies. The white square is a piece of paper inserted between the glass and the ground that identifies her as the maker.
