Lamisa F. Jordan (1837-1907) may have been the eldest living child of John Jordan and Grizelda (Grizzy) Taylor. She grew up on a farm in Williamson Co.and probably attended one of the many female academies in the area. Lamisa married twice, becoming the second spouse of both men. She had nine children and five step-children. She lived all of her married life in Bedford Co. and is buried in the Wood Cemetery in Rover next to her first husband, James Whitsett Wood.
Lamisa's sampler features her parents' initials: J.J. and G.J. Her unusual border, with flowers that resemble targets, is found on other Middle Tennessee samplers.
