Biography:
Sara Elizabeth Miller (1838-1895) who went by either Sallie or Lizzie, was the first born child of Andrew Miller and Nancy D. Cook. The family lived in a log cabin on Old Belfast Road, Marshall County. Sallie’s mother died when Sallie was five years old. Charlotte Cook, her mother’s sister, may have taken care of the children after Nancy’s death as Andrew Miller soon married her. Sallie married John Redford Drake in 1864. In 1869 Sallie’s father divided his property among his children. Sallie and John received 60 acres which included the original log cabin. The couple had one child, Nancy Etta Drake, who inherited the farm.
