Biography:
Susannah Drake Smith (1811-1882) was the sixth of eight children of Alexander Smith and his wife Sarah Jane Leiper. Her grandparents were James and Susan Drake Leiper, early settlers of Tennessee who came to Nashville in 1780 with the Donelson party. Married by James Robertson, theirs was the first marriage performed in Middle Tennessee. The Drake family home, 24 Trees, still stands in the Concord Road, Wilson Pike, and Franklin Road area of Brentwood, Williamson County.
Description:
Susannah included a house in three-quarters perspective, set in a lush landscape. Her three-sided border was probably once bright pinks and greens.
