Talitha Antoinette Lavender (1834 – 1903) was the second child of Nelson Lavender Jr., a farmer, and Parmelia Ann White. When she grew up, she reversed her name to Antoinette Talitha. In 1852 Antoinette Talitha married William Ebenezer Alexander, who was also a farmer. The Alexanders had eight children.
Talitha’s sampler is undated, but based on comparison to other stitchers in Williamson County she probably made it around the age of 10. Her sampler features the initials “JGN.” JGN has not been identified.
