Biography:
Sarah (Sallie) E. C. Francisco (1823-1874) was the daughter of John Francisco, a gunsmith, and Nancy Hasty. Sallie married James Edlin, a shoemaker, in 1842 in Montgomery County. The Edlins lived in a five room frame house on a farm in New Providence where they raised eight children. Sarah died at the age of 51 in 1874.
Description:
The unusual ground fabric, a cotton dimity, may have once been a handkerchief. Dimity is a sheer fabric with warp threads woven in a raised pattern.
