Martha Harmon Looney (c. 1802-c. 1834) was one of nine children of Peter Looney and Rachel Harmon. She grew up to marry Porter Baker and may have had one child, Martha Baker, before she died.

Martha’s sampler features two bands of drawn work, an unusual technique in Tennessee samplers. Her sawtooth border and hemstitched edging required advanced planning.
