Biography:
Margaret Noble? O. Priestley (abt. 1829-?) was the daughter of Capt. James Priestley, Jr. and Caroline Pavatt. Shortly after her birth, Margaret’s father died. Margaret’s uncle Stephen Conger Pavatt was named guardian of the Priestley children. The Priestleys were in Waverly, Humphreys Co., by 1838 when Margaret’s brother James died. In the1850 census Caroline and Margaret were living alone.
Description:
Margaret was 25 or 26 years old when she stitched the Lord’s Prayer on perforated card. She most likely used a kit and made her sampler for pleasure and decoration.
