Both are buried in the Crystal Plains Cemetery, Smith Center, Smith Co., KS.
Description:
The Stewart family lived near Minerva College, a female seminary, where Isabel most likely made her sampler at the age of 14. Her teacher would have been Catharine Stewart Jones, wife of Rev. Sandy Elrod Jones, president and founder of the school. Fancy work of every description cost an additional $10.00 a term.
