Biography:
Mary (Polly) Armistead Atkinson (1806-1852) became the wife of Fountain Branch Carter (1787-1871) and the mother of 12 children. Her son Theodrick (Tod) died during the Battle of Franklin. Her home, The Carter House in Franklin, is open to visitors.
