Biography:
Martha Pride’s (1816-bef. 1860) parents Francis Pride and Mary Elizabeth Pinkey came to Tennessee via North Carolina sometime between 1810 and 1816, and settled on a farm near Springfield, Robertson County. Martha married David Elliott around 1830 and gave birth to three children.
Description:
Martha made her marking sampler about 1826 under the tutelage of Eliza W. Speer, who was known to have taught at a log school near a spring in Cedar Hill, Robertson County.
