fibers: silk
ground: 20 ct. linen
Biography:
Nancy Brown Murry (c. 1815-?) was the child of Sarah Ann McAlpin and Abel Vance Murry, a successful planter in both Lincoln and McNairy Counties. Nancy may have been sent away to school in Sumner County when her mother died in 1832, as her sampler is similar to others made in that area.
Description:
Nancy’s sampler has faded. The original palette, based on the backs of other samplers in this group, was probably pink, green, and brown.
