As the daughter of an itinerant carpenter, Myra Lewis Tignor (1827-1904) and her siblings spent part of their childhood with an aunt. Description:
Many years after she left her sampler unfinished, Myra's daughter commissioned a family friend to paint the verse and swag at the bottom of the sampler on the empty ground fabric.
